Blade Runner 2049

This 2017 sequel to the 1982 original won Academy Awards for Achievement in Cinematography and in Visual Effects, but is much more than a great looking science fiction film. Like the original, it wrestles with questions of identity, the definition of humanity and personal agency – all relevant to today’s real world issues. My guest Mimi Reid and I talk about some of these questions in a conversation that I hope you enjoy.

In our conversation, I referenced a quote from Maria Bustillos’ piece in Medium, and you can reach my guest Mimi’s dog jacket site at GiveADogAHome.etsy.com

Blade Runner 2049 made my 2017 Favorite Films list. You can read more about this film on my personal blog, and I was a podcast guest on a couple of Overthoughts episodes, one about the original film, the other on this sequel.
